Prof.dr. Hans Schaeffer (1972) is married, and they have one child. After serving as a pastor for eight years, he returned to the academy where is currently Professor of Practical Theology at Theological University Kampen (www.tukampen.nl) and vice-director of the Center for Church and Mission in the West (www.churchandmission.nl). He wrote many articles and several books on ecclesiology, liturgy, and practical theology, a.o. Kerk om te vieren. Praktisch-theologische reflecties op kerkzijn (Summum Academic, 2019). Recent English publications are: Mercy. Theories, Concepts, Practices (together with Gerard den Hertog and Stefan Paas) (LIT Verlag, 2018); ‘Potential Roles of Churches and Ecclesiology for Disability Inclusion’ in International Journal of Practical Theology 24/1 (2020) (together with Koos Tamminga and John Swinton); ‘Reconciled Community: On Finding a Soteriology for Fresh Expressions’ in Ecclesiology 17/3 (2021) (together with Stefan Paas). Together with Koos Tamminga, he is currently preparing an article: ‘Does Inclusion Save Us All? On Change and Transformation in Practices of Inclusion’ for the International Journal for the Study of the Christian Church.
